2023 I Did It Alone

2023 I Did it Alone:

Merry Christmas, we made it to the holidays and are on our way to a brand new year! As for 2023 I Did It Alone… what did I do alone you ask?I did a tradition alone. A tradition that started when my kids were growing up and then my precious grandson continued doing the tradition as he was growing up.

This 2023 I Did It Alone, I did the countdown to Christmas Alone. This adorable snowman countdown has been in my home since I sold Avon in the early 2000s. Every year the kids and I did the countdown before they got on the bus for school each morning before their Christmas break and beyond. Then my grandson turned 2 years old and Nana introduced him to the countdown.

Well, the kids are adults with their own lives and my grandson has reached preteen. So I did it alone.

Eye Opening Experience:

This was an eye-opening experience, to say the least. You see I am three years away from my sixties. I watched my mom and other widows do things alone and thought why is it that the woman takes care of her family as they become adults, then takes care of her spouse until death do us part, then she faces the world alone. Sometimes if she is an older widow, she faces the world alone shoved away in some nursing home spending her days hoping someone cares enough to visit.

Time For Change:

It is Time For Change. I packed that snowman back away for 2023 this morning. I will not bring it back out until I meet my great-grandchildren.I already took a fantastic writer’s workshop and set my word for the year. Read more about Word For 2024.

Cher and a quote that reads..."If you really want something, you can figure out how to make it happen."

I have been selling Avon again for the past seven months! If you enjoy Avon, we are working on an Avon tab that will lead you to my online store! We are in our last Campaign of 2023. You can find the brochure here…Donna’s Avon Store. If you sign up online and become a customer, you can receive Promotional Coupon Codes through the email you register with and apply those at checkout.

If you live in the Missouri area it will show you if we are close enough for personal beauty consulting. Also, I have a goal to create and recruit my team for 2024. If you want to see the benefits of becoming an Avon Independent Representative and be inspired by a leader who believes in the product you need this link…Everything’s More Fun with a Friend!

The picture of myself was taken during my attendance at the 2023 Avon Convention! I attended virtually this year but it is on my 2024 bucket list to attend in person and hopefully with team members! We learn new selling tools and they reveal to us the upcoming holiday products!

If you attend virtually as I did, you still qualify for attendance prizes and other gifts. I actually won a great attendance prize from my leader!

More Changes:

Not only do I have my Word For 2024 and working on building my Avon team, but I let go of some things in my life and created goals both in my writing life and everyday life.

I let go of being head library volunteer, mainly because I am going to travel and other community neighbors are focused on being there every day.I also let go of the responsibility of rescuing my adult children from mistakes that I did not create. I came to that decision after spending time learning to “Let Them.”

Personal Change:

More Change

I also changed my personal bedroom to have zones. That beautiful calico cat is Nugget. Nugget will turn two years old in April 2024 and she is the queen of the castle.

More about zones in future posts and if you are a widow you may want to keep up with Frugal Widow.

Personal Life Goals:

  • Frugal Tips and DIY
  • Adventures
  • To Be Amazingly Healthy by age 60.
  • Avon Accomplishments

Writer’s Goals for 2024:

  • Write 600 words per day
  • Update the Podcast
  • Pitch article ideas to two of my favorite women’s magazines
  • Read and comment on posts on Sunday

I wish each and every writer, poet, blogger, and visitor a very blessed 2024!

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas – Sending Warm Wishes Your Way!

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas-Sending Warm Wishes Your Way! My friends I hope this post brings blessings. Remember if you are new here you can Start Here.

Here we are 20 days from a brand new year! Are you ready?

I believe I am ready for a brand-new year and a big change in my life! With a big change in my life, I am working on an opportunity to move and start a fresh life before I reach sixty years old. More about that in 2024!

What’s On My Desk the two weeks Before Christmas?

To the left of my keyboard is a tiny stack of mail, because it is time to pay taxes…ugh…lol. To the right of my keyboard is my brand new planner and my mouse sits on top of the planner. Another important thing on the first shelf of my desk sits two jars. One is labeled My New Year 2023 and the other is labeled 2023 Prayers. All year long I use tiny Post-its to jot down a blessing for the first jar or a prayer for the second jar and the last week of the year, I review the blessings and prayers, then create new jars for the new year ahead. I have done this for myself for eight years now and usually still am surprised at how the year was blessed or answered!

My new planner has a cow on the front and back cover along with the summer flower patch that the cow is grazing in, with the word Planner, and then underneath it reads Work-Home-Play. A green, blue, and pink ribbon divides the three sections. I like the way this planner is set up, more about the planner in future posts.

Traveling during 2023:

Traveling during 2023 still kept me in my home state, but Missouri has a lot to offer if you need to take time to stay close to home. Two of the places I visited helped me improve my health and impress my lung doctor!

I visited my state capital, it was a beautiful sunny warm day. The whole family went, and my grandson was able to play chess with a stranger and lost by one move. The chess pieces were as tall as my knee and I am a little over five feet tall. It was an outdoor chess board. We also did a scavenger hunt through the four floors of the capital. Yes, the Missouri government was on vacation.

In 2024 we already have plans to visit several friends that live in the States I have never visited yet. This is part of a plan to make a big change in my brand-new life.

Podcast:

Yes, podcast, the first podcast before I got sick was very exciting! Earlier in 2023 I thought I would recreate it but after a few posts, life got in the way. In 2024 I planned to actually change the way I allow people to interrupt my plans and I plan on having a few guests as 2024 becomes successful!

2023 Summary:

This sums up most of my 2023. I also wrote a Summary post on my website. Link below:

May Your Holidays Be Merry and Your New Year Be Bright!

Share your end of the year, posts in the comments here or on the website, and each Sunday I will visit and comment on at least three blog posts.
